Mauri Miller
I went to Notre Dame Law School and have spent thirteen years in M&A, most of it as deal quarterback coordinating lower-middle-market transactions across manufacturing, healthcare, and home services.
Deal quarterback is not a title anyone gives you. It's what the role becomes when the seller has no chief financial officer, the buyer has a checklist, the lender has questions, and somebody has to hold all of it together long enough to reach a closing.
I've also worked inside private-equity-backed companies, which is a different education. You learn what a buyer does with a business after the wire clears, and you learn how much of the price was decided by things the seller could have controlled two years earlier and didn't know to.
Exit Velocity Partners exists because of the gap between those two experiences.

Why this firm
Two options, and neither was in the room.
Owners in this size range get two options. A business broker will list the business and wait. An investment bank won't take the engagement, or will hand it to someone three years out of school.
Neither of them was in the room for the part that determines the price, which happens well before the business goes to market. Clean books. Documented add-backs. A business that runs when the owner isn't in it.
So we do the preparation and the transaction as one piece of work, with the same person on both.
Scope
What I don't do.
I am not your lawyer. Exit Velocity Partners is an advisory firm, and I do not serve as counsel of record on our own engagements. Every client works with separate transaction counsel, and I'll tell you who I'd recommend.
That's not a technicality. An advisor whose fee moves with the deal should not also be the person writing the purchase agreement, and any lawyer who tells you otherwise is doing you a disservice.
I don't provide tax, accounting, or investment advice either. I'll tell you when you need those people and, usually, which ones.
The first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Most owners who call are eighteen months out and not sure they're ready to say so out loud. That's the right time to call.
